WORKSHOP – Sheffield Parent Carer Forum – Parent Workshop Wednesday 8th January, St Mary’s, Bramall Lane

Children and young people with certain disabilities (such as autistic spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, or ADHD) have an increased risk of developing mental health issues.  This workshop will enable you to spot  the signs  of common mental health issues and to know when to ask for help, and from whom.  We will look at ways of supporting a child who is experiencing mental health issues, and to look after wellbeing of the rest of the family – including your own. The session will be led by Mental Health Trainer Aileen Moore.  Follow-up sessions on particular topics or mental health conditions may be arranged in the future.

If you would like to book onto this session please call the Sheffield Parent Carer office on 0300 321 4721 or email enquiries@sheffieldparentcarerforum.org.uk

Alton Towers – Saturday 21st September

ACCT would like to announce that a decision was made on Friday 6th September at a Trustees meeting to fund extra tickets due to high demand for places. Some families are travelling in their own transport, this means we have a small number of places left on the coach which will be allocated to the waiting list in order of sign up.

Should any coach seats become free due to change to own transport or cancellation, we will keep funding tickets down the waiting list. If any families are able to make their own way to Alton Towers this would help us to provide tickets to as many families on the waiting list as possible.

Thank you to those families that have agreed to travel in their own cars freeing up several places on the coaches.

I am no longer taking bookings for Alton Towers, the waiting list is closed.

Ecclsall Woods Trip Sat 27th July (instead of Acctivate)

For the Ecclesall Woods Trip this coming Saturday, we are meeting on Whirlowdale Road, near the join with Abbey Lane. There is parking available on Abbey Lane by the sawmill. There will be an ACCT worker at the meeting point, so look out for the green t-shirt!

We are meeting at 10am, and will be finished by 1pm. We would advise that children wear trousers and closed shoes, as there are some brambles etc. in the wood. Please bring plenty of water and snacks if your child will want these, as there is nowhere nearby to buy anything. Children are welcome to bring along their own toys to play with, as long as they are not electrical.

If you have any questions or issues finding us please call me on 07527 824034

Thanks,
