For years ACCT has successfully provided many services – weekly clubs, trips, events, support etc. etc. free of charge. We are now calling on you to give a little back to secure the future of ACCT for all existing and new members.
It costs £2,000 each month to pay for room hire, insurance, experienced staff at our weekly clubs and core running costs. That’s a massive £24,000 per year! Events & days out are extra!
We listened to your comments at the Annual General Meeting about what ACCT means to you. You have found support for your whole family and contact with others in a similar situation, and many of you have formed close friendships. So just for a moment we urge you to think what the charity means to you and your family. We think it’s priceless! During the AGM a vote was taken amongst our attending members and it was unanimous that an Effective Donation is the way forward.
We’re not asking you to dig deep, but in order to provide security for the charity we need regular monthly donations. A minimum of £5 + gift aid every month will secure our charity’s future. That’s £1.15 per week per family. (Please use this secure link https://www.charitycheckout.co.uk/1123714/donate to donate monthly or set up a standing order Account no. 00220404 (Lloyd’s) Sort Code: 30-97-51)
As a charity ACCT is committed to providing what our members need, and with an ever growing membership demand for our service is high. With your Effective Donation we will continue to run weekly clubs for both children and teenagers, providing support from our highly skilled and trained staff, run a full program of family days out, organise trips and swimming for families and teenagers and provide support to parents – monthly meeting, parents room, emails, signposting and use of our library and ACCT Chat.
Our clubs are tailored to meet the needs of the children and young people accessing them. We are funded by the local authority fortnightly for clubs, but demand is so high that we have successfully run weekly Acctivate for three years and weekly teenage club for eighteen months. We’d like to continue this and offer our expanding membership opportunities to access days out, swimming and online services also.
Those of you who already donate monthly, we appreciate it and we’re not asking you to give more unless you want too. You’re amazing, thank you.
Those who don’t, we really need your help now. We were forced to cancel a number of Acctivate and Teenage Club sessions last year due to a lack of funds. We would like to ensure this does not happen during the next year. (Please use this link https://www.charitycheckout.co.uk/1123714/donate to donate monthly or set up a standing order Account no. 00220404 (Lloyd’s) Sort Code: 30-97-51)
As many of you know, ACCT relies heavily on grants & fund-raising. It is becoming more challenging to obtain grant funding in the current economic climate and the costs of running the charity are slowly rising. We will continue to apply for grant funding and seek out fundraising opportunities.
Please help us to secure the future of this fantastic charity, your help is much appreciated.
Kind Regards
The ACCT Team

It’s that time of year again. We hope you will consider joining us for our AGM and raffle draw next week on Wednesday 13th January 7pm – 9pm at St Mary’s Community Centre.
We will be discussing many important issues including funding. We are very grateful to those members who are already regular givers. To maintain the current level of service we need regular income and this may mean asking all members to make a small but regular contribution.
ACCT has been successfully running weekly Acctivate sessions for almost three years and our weekly Teenage Club for eighteen months. This has been a huge financial commitment for the organisation and these extra sessions have been solely funded through our own fundraising efforts for the last twenty two months. As well as our weekly clubs we provide online support, parents meetings, days and trips out and sporting activities.
In the current financial climate, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the present levels of service we provide to our members. For many of our families the support they receive from ACCT is a lifeline where valuable friendships are formed, information is shared and support is given. Whilst we continue to hold fundraising events and apply for grant funding, we, as a charity, need the support of our members.
A discussion and vote will be taken to decide on how to proceed with funding our much used and valued service. If you want to have your say please join us at our AGM.

Dear ACCT Member,
We are writing to you from ACCT to ask if you would consider setting up a regular donation to support ACCT and help us to run our weekly clubs. It costs around £250 to run one teenage club session and over £400 to run an ACCTivate session: we only receive funding for alternate weeks so offering clubs on a weekly basis comes at a considerable cost to ACCT.
You will know from experience that ACCT sessions can be life changing for those who attend. ACCT helps both children and adults to develop friendships and build networks of support. ACCT provides a safe and caring place for children and teenagers to play, develop social skills and meet other likeminded individuals.
If you are in a position to, then please consider whether you can set up a monthly donation to support ACCT.
Regular donations give ACCT security to fund our weekly clubs and other activities, changing the lives of those who attend. Regular donations also ensure that we can plan for the future and continue to create positive change in the lives of our children, teenagers and families.
If you are not able to consider a regular donation then please be assured that making a single donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference to the lives of the children, teenagers and families that we support.
If you would like to donate through secure online giving please visit the ‘Donate’ page on our website: www.acctsheffield.org.uk/donate-2/ and click the relevant link. There is also an option to sign up to Gift Aid which allows us to claim an extra 25p for every pound that is donated!
Thank you for your continued support towards ACCT. It is our members, teenagers and children that make it such a special organisation.
Kind Regards
The ACCT Team
Sheffield University are looking for as many families as possible whose child has a diagnosis of ADHD to take part in a project . They want to learn more about the impact of ADHD, and to test some treatments to see whether thay can help relieve symptoms and improve long term outcomes.
They would really appreciate if you could get involved. If you go to www.starsheffield.com you can fill in the on-line questionnaire. Alternately you can ask for a paper copy by emailing Philippa (p.fibert@sheffield.ac.uk) who will also be happy to answer any questions.
ACCT are Sainsburys on The Moor Charity of the Year and we have a fundraising weekend on Friday 2nd October and Saturday 3rd October.
We need members (including friends and family!) for –
• Bag Packing for Donations
• Face Painters
• Good quality raffle prizes
If you can help in anyway on one or both days please contact Nicola on nicola.hough@acctsheffield.org.uk or 07527 824034/0114 2302024
This is an excellent opportunity for us to raise funds to enable us to continue to run weekly Acctivate and Teenage Club.
Many thanks in advance.
Dear Member,
We are inviting you to join a scheme to guarantee you access to 3 monthly family swim sessions.
This is how it works:
The cost to ACCT of running 3 sessions is £600. Member donations towards the scheme amount to £140 currently and ACCT can contribute £100 from the charity’s funds. This leaves a balance of £360. We have 60 places for swimming each month so a voluntary contribution of £6 per person would amount to £360.
We know lots of you really value our swimming sessions and we are still actively seeking grant funding for them. In the meantime, we think that £2 per person per swim is very good value and will allow ACCT swimming meetups to continue.
We will book the sessions as soon as we reach the target of £360 – if we don’t we will refund any monies received.
One booking will secure access to all 3 sessions. Unfortunately we can’t refund money if you miss a session – the scheme won’t work if we do.
We hope this seems like a reasonable way to carry on ACCT swimming. We have listened to your feedback and hope this is a way forward.
If we can reach our target by 30th September, this will guarantee 3 swims before Christmas.
You can donate securely online to the swimming scheme through: https://acctsheffield.org.uk/donate-2/ (Any Gift Aid will be collected towards future swimming sessions)
You can also make a donation through the clubs by cash or cheque in an envelope marked “Swimming Scheme” and with a list of names to attend.
Best Wishes,
The ACCT Team
Thank you to everyone who attended our Summer Days Out and to those who made a voluntary contribution. We raised £430 in voluntary contributions this summer and from online donations will also receive an extra 25% with Giftaid. If you did not make a contribution towards your day out and would like to, it is not too late. Please follow the secure link to make your donation – http://www.acctsheffield.org.uk/donate-2/
Many thanks
