Two exciting opportunities have arisen to join ACCT Sheffield. ACCT is looking for a new Football Coach to join our fantastic team working at ACCT Academy Football Club and Acctivate Children’s Club. ACCT is also recruiting a bank playworker to cover shifts at ACCT Academy Football Club, Teenage Club and Acctivate Children’s Club and to provide six months Maternity Cover at Acctivate Children’s Club starting in January 2023.

Asperger’s Children and Carers Together (ACCT) is a charity that has been supporting autistic children and their families in Sheffield since 2006. ACCT’s mission is for all autistic people in Sheffield to be valued and supported to live happy, fulfilling lives. We run a wide range of in-person and online activity groups for autistic children and young people, parent-carers and whole family activities.

Job summary:

We are looking to recruit energetic, friendly and fun individuals who are passionate about providing quality support and football coaching for young people. The role would be suitable for someone with prior experience working in football and sport.

As a ACCT Employee you will be committed to improving the lives of Autistic children and young people in the Sheffield area. We need you to be open minded, empathic, understanding and patient, have a positive attitude, and be willing to learn.

Job summary:

We are looking to recruit an energetic, friendly and fun individual who is passionate about providing quality support and football coaching for young people. The role would be suitable for someone with prior experience working in football and sport.

As a Football Coach you will be committed to improving the lives of Autistic children and young people in the Sheffield area. We need you to be open minded, empathic, understanding and patient, have a positive attitude, and be willing to learn.

Principal Duties

• Assist in the planning and delivery of football sessions that are fun, teach teamwork, social and football skills, focusing on confidence and self-esteem
• Engage participants to take full advantage of these sessions, provide support around the additional needs they have as a result of their Autism
• Assist in developing and promoting an autism friendly environment with particular attention to routine, communication strategies and the physical environment
• Work closely with and the Head Football Coach and other coaches as part of a team
• To work closely with parents and carers
• To ensure the participant’s needs are being met
• To manage the children and young people’s behaviour positively, with the support of other staff and volunteers
• Adhere to health and safety legislation and ACCT’s policies and procedures
• To take responsibility for safeguarding the children and young people during activities
• To take responsibility for managing volunteers during the session
• Assist with other aspects of ACCT’s activities where appropriate
• To undertake training where appropriate
• To ensure all children receive a high standard of care at all times

Location: Sheffield, S2

Remuneration: £10.00 – £12.00 p/h (depending on experience)

Hours: 1.75 hours on Friday evenings (alternate), 17:45 – 19:15pm plus 15 minutes  for planning

We would like to invite you to the ACCT Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be held online via Zoom on Thursday 10 February 2022, from 7pm to 8pm.

The AGM is a really important event in the calendar for our charity. It is a meeting open to every member of ACCT, where we present the annual report and financial accounts of the year 2020-21, elect trustees to govern the charity, and discuss plans for the year ahead.

There will be chances to ask questions and join a discussion if you’d like to, but equally, it’s absolutely fine to join the Zoom and just listen or even have us on in the background while you’re doing other things!

We hope you’ll be able to join us. An agenda, minutes and our annual report are all available to download here:

We elect trustees at the AGM, but trustees can join the ACCT board at any time during the year. Trustees are members like you who volunteer some time to help lead and guide the charity by attending four board meetings per year and discussing what ACCT does and how we do it. We’re always happy to hear from anybody who would be interested in joining the board as a trustee, so if you’re interested in finding out more, please email us at enquiries@acctsheffield.org.uk. Or come along to the AGM and get an idea of what’s involved!

Theatre makers Forced Entertainmentand ACCT are running a weekly drama club for neurodiverse young people aged 12 to 16 years.

The aim of the group is to provide support, social opportunities and build on and develop life, social and communication skills to boost confidence and self-esteem. Groups are supported by ACCT’s trained staff.

Activities are fortnightly on Tuesday evenings. Please make a note of all the dates, and let us know which meets you are interested in.
