Short Breaks and National Lockdown

We have received confirmation that under the current guidance published at the weekend that Short Break services can remain open, which means that Teenage Club and Acctivate will continue to run through November.

Unfortunately all grassroots sport has to stop from midnight tonight so we will sadly have to move ACCT Academy to online Zoom sessions in place of in-person sessions.
This Friday our fantastic coaches will be running a Football Quiz!! To join the meeting please email enquiries@acctsheffield.org.uk for an invite and link. Parents welcome too!

With regards to football at Teenage Club and Acctivate, we will continue to run this as an activity but without contact and with social distancing in place. Our football coaches are very experienced and will continue to make football a fun and engaging activity regardless of the restrictions in place.

Since returning to in-person clubs we have been focusing on cleaning, hand hygiene, the use of PPE and social distancing at our clubs. With cases of Covid-19 continuing to rise this will continue to be at the forefront of our work to ensure our setting is a safe place for everyone.

Our online provision continues to be a popular space for our members! The ACCT Minecraft server is open to all ages on Thursdays 6-8pm and Saturdays 9.45-12.15pm, our dedicated and experienced staff are on hand to support, guide and help your young people to have fun!! A laptop or PC is needed to access the server, we also have accounts that we loan out.

We have places available at our Monday evening Dungeons and Dragons Zoom session. If your teenager or young person is interested to take part please get in touch.

ACCT is Recruiting!

ACCT is looking to recruit to the following paid staff roles:

  • Casual Bank Play Workers at Acctivate Children’s Club on Saturday mornings, Teenage Youth Club on Wednesday evenings (at St Mary’s Church, Bramall Lane) and Football Skills Club on Friday evenings (at Goals, 95 Norfolk Park Road), and online activities (9.30am-12.30pm on Saturday morning / 1.30pm-4.30pm on Saturday afternoon / 6pm-9pm on Monday evening / 7pm-9pm on Wednesday evening).

ACCT has been successfully delivering Acctivate and Teenage Club for a number of years. Both clubs are professionally run, well established, offer a range of activities and provide children and young people with an inclusive environment where they can be themselves, make friends, and build confidence and self-esteem.

Our Football Club has been running for 18 months. The club attracts around 12 children a week aged 7-16 years. The main focus of the club is to have fun whilst developing confidence, self-esteem and teamwork skills. The club started to provide an inclusive environment for children that are unable to access a mainstream club.

During lockdown and the Covid19 pandemic ACCT moved all provision and activities online. Some activities have been extremely successful and we are continuing to deliver our weekly Minecraft server sessions, Dungeons and Dragons Zoom sessions and Parents’ Zoom Meetings.

Successful candidates will join our friendly team and be a part of the fantastic work we do in Sheffield supporting children and young people with Asperger’s syndrome and autism.

The deadline for all the roles is 5pm on Friday 2nd October. All the information about the roles and the application forms can be downloaded below.

Please contact enquiries@acctsheffield.org.uk to register your interest and you will be sent an invitation to join the meeting along with a guide to using Zoom.

Thank you to the funders who have allowed us to deliver Parents’ Zoom Meetings this year, including the Aviva Community Fund and the Coronavirus Community Support Fund from the National Lottery Community Fund and UK Government.

Activities Update – Big News!

Big changes! From last Wednesday and Saturday, ACCT has started up in person clubs for the six week holidays!
unnamed

The whole ACCT team have been doing amazing work preparing to safely open. Bubbles have been established, social distancing measured out, cleaning schedules arranged, but most importantly, the same clever and creative ACCT team are there to welcome you and catch up.

We have initially offered spaces to our regular club users, and we will let you know when more spaces become available.

Acctivate Minecraft and Teenage Club Minecraft will continue to run alongside in person clubs.

However, there is no more Zoom into Acctivate or Zoom into Teenage Club. Big thanks to everyone who participated in the Zoom clubs and made them a fun and welcoming place for people to socialise. You’ll be glad to know we’re working on incorporating what we’ve learnt from the Zoom activities into the in-person clubs.

There are still spaces available on Acctivate Minecraft, Teenage Club Minecraft and Dungeons and Dragons. Let us know if you’d like to join!

The next Parents Meeting will be next Tuesday the 11th of August 7pm-9pm via Zoom. Drop us a line if you’d like to join in, or if you have any suggestions for future Parents Meeting topics.

And that’s a quick round up! Hopefully see you all soon.
